Bayou State Rougarou relocated to Shreveport, Louisiana
The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) has announced that its Board of Governors has approved the relocation of the Bayou State Rougarou to Shreveport, Louisiana, for the 2026-27 season.
Owner of the Rougarou, Brad Allen, shares his gratitude for the Monroe community during the team’s inaugural season.
“Monroe gave our organization an incredible foundation during our inaugural season, and we will always be thankful for the people who embraced our team from day one. As we look ahead, we are excited for the opportunities that await us in Shreveport and can not wait to begin this next chapter at George’s Pond.”
The team will play their home games on George's Pond at the Hirsch Coliseum. The arena features seating for 4,000 spectators and has become a hotbed for dedicated hockey fans over the last two decades.
The Rougarou will share their arena with the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL. With both teams under the same roof, it will provide athletes on Bayou State the opportunity to be seen and have the opportunity to advance up the ladder of development.
The city of Shreveport, Louisiana features a population of 183,000 residents and ranks as the third largest city in the state. The community has built a strong local base of youth hockey and is supported with a strong hockey culture thanks to the Shreveport Mudbugs over the past two decades. Bayou State kicks off the 2026-27 season on September 11, 2026 and will play 22 home games.
“We would like to thank the Rougarou for all that they have done to develop great young men in the community and hockey players on the ice in Monroe, Louisiana,” said NAHL Commissioner and President Mark Frankenfeld. “We are very excited for the future of Bayou State. The move to George’s Pod will reinforce our league’s goals in helping to develop and advance players in their hockey careers.”
The Bayou State Rougarou will continue to be a part of the NA3HL’s Southeast Division during the upcoming 2026-27 season. The team will be one of five teams: Atlanta Capitals (Sandy Springs, GA), Louisiana Drillers (Lafayette, LA), Pelham Prowlers (Pelham, AL), and Texas RoadRunners (College Station, TX).
