Sharks Forward Martinsson Makes College Commitment

The Long Beach Sharks of the North American 3 Hockey League are proud to announce that forward Gustav Martinsson has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for Purdue Northwest University (Hammond, Indiana). 

The Sweden native was a standout player for the Sharks during the 2025-26 season. He had 42 points consisting of 16 goals and 26 assists. 

In February of 2026, Martinsson was selected to compete in the Top Prospects Tournament. The tournament consisted of the best uncommitted players in NA3HL and the NAHL. Martinsson represented the NA3HL on team Red. 

“Gustav is a great 2 way player and an even better young man!” Sharks Head Coach Jeff Tory said. “We thank him for all he has done as a member of the Sharks organization and wish him the best of luck at the University of Purdue”

His best performance was on Oct. 12 against the Maine Nordiques He had 4 points consisting of one goal and three assists to aid his team in a 7-4 victory. 

Martinsson joins the #16 ranked team in the ACHA DI. They made it to the sweet sixteen of the ACHA DI Championship Tournament, and were 16-12-4 overall. 

Martinsson is one of three players from the Long Beach Sharks to make a college commitment this season.
