Great Falls Defenseman Hannesson Makes College Commitment
The Great Falls Americans of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that defenseman Fisher Hannesson has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for University of Mary (Bismarck, North Dakota).
Over the past two seasons for the Americans, the Fargo, North Dakota native had a strong defensive presence for the team. His best offensive was 2024-2025 when he tallied 21 points including four goals and 17 assists in 45 games.
“We couldn’t be more happy for Fisher,” Americans Head Coach Greg Sears said. “U Mary was his top choice, and it’s exciting to see him reach his goal of playing college hockey there. He is a great kid and we know they are getting a good player and a guy who will do anything to help the team.”
In February 2026, Hannesson participated in the Top Prospects Tournament for Team White. The tournament is composed of the best uncommitted talent in both the NAHL and NA3HL. Hannesson recorded two assists in two games.
Hannesson’s best performance offensively came on Feb. 13 against the Gillette Wild. Hannesson recorded three assists.
Hannesson joins the #10 ranked team in ACHA DI. The University of Mary made it to the second round of the ACHA DI National Championship. They were 27-14 overall.
Hannesson is one of five players from the Great Falls Americans to make a college commitment this season.
