June 8, 2026

The Maine Nordiques of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that goaltender Nick Kurtiak has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for Purdue Northwest University (Hammond, Indiana).

During the 2025-26 season in the NA3HL, the Swartz Creek, Michigan native played in 15 regular season games, with a record of 8-6.

Kurtiak played for the Rochester Grizzlies in the 2023-2024 season, and again in the 2025-2026 season, where he played in 3 games of the 2026 Fraser Cup Championship.

The 6-foot-1 netminder had a .887 save percentage in the 2025-26 season.

His most successful performance was on Feb. 27 against the Wausau Cyclones, where he had 34 saves against 35 shots. The Grizzlies were victorious in a 4-1 win.

Kurtiak was named to the USHS-MI All State Division 3 Second Team for two consecutive years in a row during his high school career at Flint Powers Catholic High.

Kurtiak joins the #16 ranked team in the ACHA DI. They made it to the sweet sixteen of the ACHA DI Championship Tournament, and were 16-12-4 overall.

Kurtiak is one of three players from the Grizzlies to make a college commitment this season.
