Former Yellowstone Forward Winkler Makes College Commitment

April 23, 2026

The Yellowstone Quake of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that forward Nolan Winkler has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for the University of Michigan-Flint (Flint, Michigan).

This past season the Plano, Illinois native played on two teams in the NA3HL. Starting his season in Gillette, Winkler only recorded one point in 17 games. After being traded to Yellowstone, the forward’s production increased.

This season for the Yellowstone Quake, Winkler recorded 11 points in 26 games including nine assists.

The best performance of the 2025-26 season by Winkler came on Jan. 9 against the Bozeman Icedogs. Winkler recorded two assists, including an assist on the go-ahead goal in the 6-4 victory on home ice.

“Well deserved for Nolan. He’s a great human being and is always striving to improve,” said Yellowstone Quake head coach Gaetano Moirano. “I’m glad to have helped guide Nolan through the process to get to the school of his choice. Really excited for him.”

Winkler is the only player from the Yellowstone Quake to make a college commitment this season.
