Bayou State Defenseman Donavan Dunbar Makes College Commitment

April 22, 2026

The Bayou State Rougarou of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that defenseman Donavan Dunbar has committed to play ACHA Division II college hockey for East Texas Baptist University (Marshall, Texas).

During the 2025-26 season in the NA3HL, the North Richland Hills, Texas native played in 45 regular season games for the Rougarou. Dunbar also appeared in both of Bayou State’s playoff games.

In the past, Dunbar had a few stints in the NA3HL, but this season was his most successful. In the 45 regular season games that the 2005 birth year appeared in he recorded seven total points. Those points consisted of one goal and six assists.

The best offensive performance of the season from Dunbar came on Nov. 21 against the Atlanta Capitals. The defenseman recorded two assists to help his team take the victory over the Capitals.

“Donavan has put in the work every single day, and this opportunity at ETBU is a direct result of that commitment,” said Bayou State head coach Paul MacLean. “We’re proud of the player he’s become and even more proud of the person he is. East Texas Baptist is getting a competitor who shows up, leads by example, and does things the right way.”

Dunbar is one of two players from the Bayou State Rougarou to make a college commitment this season.
