Capitals defenseman Horton makes college commitment

The Atlanta Capitals of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) are proud to announce that defenseman Hatcher Horton has committed to play ACHA Division I college hockey for the University of Michigan - Flint.  

Horton, 20, spent both seasons of his junior career in the NA3HL, most recently making an impact in his age out season with Atlanta. Through 35 games this season, the Birdville, Texas native was a high impact player despite being a defenseman as the second overall leading scorer on the Capitals with 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists). With his success, he was selected to represent Atlanta at the 2026 Top Prospects Tournament, dressing for Team Gold.

One standout series to highlight came in Mid-Feburary as the Caps took on the Carolina Rage. During these pair of games, Horton was able to shine on the scoresheet, posting back to back multi-goal games, including a hat trick as Atlanta picked up a huge win, defeating Carolina 6-3. 

Head Coach Jeff Pyle praised Horton’s work ethic and versatility during his time with the organization: “He’s a great kid who competes every single day. His ability to play both forward and defense gave our lineup a lot of flexibility. We’re proud to have had him in our organization, and he’ll definitely be missed. He’s a true professional.”

Horton is the first player from the Capitals to make a college commitment.
