Fast Start at Top Prospects — Day 1 Recap

NA3HL Black 7 @ NA3HL Gold 2: This Top Prospects showcase
matchup featured a fast-paced contest between Team Black and Team Gold. Gold jumped out to
an early lead, but Black responded with a dominant second period to secure a convincing 7–2
victory. Team Gold wasted little time getting on the board. John Scharf opened the scoring off a
strong setup from Charlie Wilson, giving Gold the early 1–0 advantage. Gold continued to push
the pace and capitalized again when Ethan Salter found the back of the net, assisted by Carter
Gnau and Joseph Izzo, extending the lead to 2–0. Black generated chances late in the period but
was unable to solve Gold’s defense, and Gold carried a 2–0 lead into the intermission. Team
Black came out with urgency in the second and quickly shifted the momentum. Ty Smith started
the rally, finishing a play assisted by Eli Tiernan and Gavin Jensen to cut the deficit to 2–1.
Shortly after, Jackson Dougherty netted his first of the game, assisted by Nathan Daniels, tying
the contest at 2–2. Black continued to pour on the pressure. Ethan Tierman gave Black its first
lead of the night off a feed from Max Jackson. Moments later, Elliot Domagala added to the
surge, assisted by Ethan Tierman. The offensive outburst continued as Carson Gause scored with
assists from Luca Salak and Caleb Waller. Caleb Waller then added a goal of his own, set up by
Luca Salak and Matej Dvorsky. Before the period closed, Jackson Dougherty struck again for his
second goal of the game, assisted by Juno Ryu, capping off a remarkable seven-goal second
period for Team Black and giving them a commanding 7–2 lead. The third period saw tightened
defensive play from both sides. Black focused on protecting the lead while Gold searched for
answers offensively. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the final frame. The
goalies for Team Black were Jayden Serene stopping 10 of 12 shots in his 25 minutes of action
and, Peter Alfano was perfect in relief, turning aside all 12 shots he faced.Team Gold Goalie
Joshua Middleton made 9 saves on 13 shots. Team Gold also had Brayden Macko record 11
saves on 14 shots.

NA3HL Red 4 @ NA3HL White 5: The NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, is one
of the league’s premier showcase events, bringing together four teams of top nominated players
to compete in front of junior, college, and professional scouts. The event serves as a key step in
the NA3HL’s development ladder to the NAHL and highlights some of the league’s best talent.
Day one action featured a tight matchup between White and Red, with the opening period
remaining scoreless as both teams traded chances but were held off the board by strong
goaltending. The game broke open in the second period when White struck first early in the period on a goal from Riley Schmidt, assisted by Fisher Hannesson. Red responded with three straight goals
from Brady Knutsen, Lonnie Land, and Nolan Mix to take a 3–1 lead. White cut the deficit to one
on a goal by Dayton Niedert, assisted by Austin Uecker, but Red answered late in the period
with Reece Beckwith’s tally, assisted by Jay Montgomery and Eric Denny, to carry a 4–2
advantage into the intermission. White mounted an explosive comeback in the third period, beginning with Dantae Hunziker’s goal assisted by Riley Schmidt and Caden Feinstein. Just over two minutes later, Jack Whitelaw, assisted by Dayton Niedert, tied the game at 4–4 and shifted the momentum. With only 16 seconds remaining, Chase Berg netted the game-winner for White, assisted by Cooper
Clouse and Fisher Hannesson, securing a dramatic 5–4 victory to open the tournament.
In net, Red goaltender Lleyton Jaschke turned aside 23 shots in the loss, while White
netminders Dalton Elliott and Andrew Knox combined for 22 saves to earn the win.
