Maine, Long Beach Collect Key Wins in East Division Action

New Hampshire 2 @ Maine 4 - On Wednesday's midday hockey slate in the 3-Show, the Maine Nordiques shut down the visiting New Hampshire Jr. Mountain Kings 4-2. The scoring started in the second period, as the first had nothing to report but stillwater chances on both Risdon Baynard-Fernhall and Riley Burnett. From the middle frame, Brody Emond lit the lamp first for the Nordiques, after Peyton Dyer shot on a disoriented Baynard-Fernhall with Emond burying the loose biscuit in the crease. Minutes later, right off the faceoff, Carter Walls would set up a wide-open Max Thomas for him to fire a rocket and make it two-nothing. However, four minutes later, the Mountain Kings broke ice and capitalized on the power play, as Matthew Anderson snuck one by. Then three minutes passed and Nick Brophy would return the favour for New Hampshire by scoring himself — after setting up Anderson from earlier. Going into the third, the Nordiques took over the show and sliced up two more to finish the day. Five minutes in, Emond responded, with Boston Merrow and Jaxson Sardinha chipping in. Moments later, Dyer would grab himself a goal by scoring a short-side beauty that Baynard-Fernhall had no way of stopping. 

Buzz 3 @ Long Beach 7 - The Long Beach Sharks went on a tear during Wednesday's matchup against the Buzz. In the first period, Ryder Pisiak opened the scoring in the first three minutes of play from Samuel Barnard and Brady Gatchell chipping in. A minute later, Jack Plummer kept it going. And at 11:13, Gustav Martinsson buried a rebound created by Brendan Dalton to make it three-nothing heading into the second. In the second, the Sharks racked up three more. Sean Bailey got it started in the first two minutes of action, as James Steinberg and Nick Walker pitched in. Fast forward to 14:53 and Barnard would notch his second of the night to give the Sharks a five-goal lead over the Buzz. Before the second buzzer, Martinsson did a repeat from earlier and finished out the frame by scoring from an open slot. From the third, the tide shifted for Long Beach, as the Buzz finally woke up and took over the scoring streak. At 17:35, Yaromir Chicherin broke ice and the shutout dream, as Tannan Nenninger set him up. Moments ahead, Jaylen Nurse kept the momentum going for the visiting club, and then minutes after, Chicherin picked up his second of the game empty-handed. Likewise, the Sharks were still ahead, and Pisiak put an end to the Buzz's scoring takeover after punching in his second goal to seal the deal for Long Beach.
